By June if not before, the U.S. Supreme Court will rule on the Harvard and UNC admissions cases. In these cases, the Court is being asked to overrule or further constrain longstanding decisions that, within legal design parameters, allow institutions of higher education to consider applicants’ race in holistic admissions review to create diverse learning communities that benefit all students. This webinar will help CGS members to focus on how to maintain a strong commitment to, and take meaningful action toward, equity, diversity, and inclusion in graduate education—whatever the Court decides. Both the range of possible outcomes and impacts of the cases, as well as the opportunities presented to advance positive systemic change, will be explored.

Speakers:

  • Jamie Lewis Keith, Distinguished Senior Law and Policy Fellow, EducationCounsel

  • Lisa García Bedolla, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division at the University of California, Berkeley
