Webinar Series: Teaching research mentors inclusive people manager skills: Addressing productivity, morale and well-being in the lab

Naledi Saul, Director of the UCSF Office of Career and Professional Development, will share an overview of an NSF grant-funded collaborative initiative designed to retain diversity in the sciences by teaching biomedical scientists the frameworks, tools and language to inclusively lead high-functioning teams. In 2016, UCSF and City College of San Francisco’s Biotechnology Program launched an NSF grant-funded intervention designed to train research mentors in inclusive people manager skills, Three years later, both collaborated with California Life Sciences to assess if the resulting mentor/manager training would also resonate with industry scientists managing individual and team performance. Since its inception, over 1,000 scientists from over 70 academic institutions and biotech companies have completed our Inclusive Research Mentor/People Manager Series. Learn about the training and how using inclusive practices can increase clarity about performance and conduct expectations for trainees in the lab.
